This extraordinary steel-engraving was created from a sculpture by one of England’s finest sculptors, John Henry Foley (1818-1874). Foley presented this statue of the Confederate Civil War hero to Virginia in 1873 where it remains on display in Capitol Square. Many of his works are displayed around the world.
This incredibly detailed antique work-of-art cannot begin to be appreciated in this format. This fine piece has a quality that has to be seen to be fully enjoyed. The lines are so fine and the workmanship so meticulous, that it is hard to believe it was printed from a steel plate actually etched by a human hand. It is destined to be a cherished heirloom for generations to come.
